Monique Roffey in conversation

Monique Roffey won this year's Costa Book Award for her novel, The Mermaid of Black Conch which was also short-listed for the Goldsmiths Prize 2020 and longlisted for the Rathbones/Folio Award.  Set on a small Caribbean island in spring of 1976, it tells the story of a fisherman who attracts the attentions of a beautiful young woman cursed by jealous wives to live as a mermaid, who has been swimming the Caribbean Sea for centuries. Monique will be in conversation with Gavin Knight who had his own share of odd maritime experiences during the researching of his  latest book The Swordfish and the Star.
